Welcome to Next Generation
Boys Group!
Next Generation works in partnership with Wakefield's young people’s service to engage and provide various activities to children & young people (age 8 to 19 years ). We have sessions for different age groups on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays our Under 13's football team, Nxt Gen Warriors, plays in the Charles Rice League.
Session consists of multi sports (like 5-a side footie, swimming, cricket, athletics) and YouthZone -where you can chill, use Internet and computers, play Wii, Xbox, Play station, pool, fussball and do some baking & cooking in our newly refurbished kitchen!
We have regular 5-a side Midnight League competitions, an annual Cricket School, holiday activities & trips and residentials. Check the website for up to date info about all this.
Background
There has been an increase in the number of young people attending the session with 89 young people signed up as members and an average of 55 young people attending the session throughout the evening. The project has started working with the turning point who has allocated a worker to attend sessions on a regular basis to start building relationship with the young people to help with developing a drugs prevention programme.
Young people have also been part of research consultation with the young people service. This research will hopefully shape the future youth provision for the Asian community of Wakefield.
Young people service young inspectors:
The project was inspected by the young people service young inspectors. They found the project to be welcoming , safe , warm, clean and tidy with plenty to do such as swimming (a large/small pool) football and cricket etc (sport hall). There was plenty of staff. Everyone agreed that the workers were friendly with young people and there was evidence that sport was available.
Each inspector thought that the young people here had the opportunity to do new and exciting things and that there was evidence that they got recognition for there achievements in project.
Everyone agreed that this was a project that they could go to and couldn’t think of any one they knew who wouldn’t feel comfortable here.
