All sessions on the Stanley Royd playing fields are for boys & girls!

Free swimming finishes on the 31st of July

Go Play! and Next Gen are starting skating sessions at Lightwaves on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 pm for 8 to 19 year olds.

Skates, safety equipment and instruction will be provided.  £1 per session

Next Gen will start Kickboxing Training on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 pm for boys & girls, 13 to 19 years old.

The training is given by Next Gen's own Ellen Wakefield, who is a British WAKO and WKC champion, and Graham Roach, 5tth Dan Instructor from GP Martial Arts.

It starts on Tuesday 10 June and costs £1 per session

Sport Relief 2010 was a great succes with more than 350 official runners, lots of visitors, lots of (young) people helping out, good activities, nice food and spring weather.

Come and run the Next Generation Mile for Sport Relief on Sunday 21 March, 1 pm @ the Stanley Royd playing fields, Eastmoor Road, College Grove.

Taking a look at what Next Generation have been doing in one week holiday. There's been a lots of activities during the holiday that has been fun and new experiences for boys and girls group.

Asim Tebraze worked at Next Generation for 6years, He worked as a youth worker and was involved with boys group

Next Gen organised an Eid/Christmas Party for the Young People and Parents. The event was a success with over 50 people attending from the Wakefield.

Lightwaves will be closed from 4.00 pm onwards on Christmas Eve (Thursday 24th December) and remain closed until Tuesday 29 December. On Thursday the 31st it will close at 4.00 pm and open again on Saturday 2nd of January.

The Cricket School of Excellence 2010 will have two courses this year:

For Beginners with basic skills it starts on Saturday 16 January from 2 to 4 pm. It will run for 5 weeks.

For children & young people who have a good knowledge of the game and want to improve their techniques we run a Intermediate Course, starting Saturday 27 February from 2 to 4 pm ...

The warriors were triumphant in the Equals tournament against local rivals Stanley United.

The home side were impressive with both 5 a side teams looking dominant in play. The tournament really showed the strength and depth in the warriors side. Both the teams made it to the final but a winner could not be decided due to time constraints. Jalil Akbar picked up the player of the tournament. Hopefully we can continue this next year.

Next Gen went into the match with full of confidence after a hard fought battle against Durkar. Next Gen recalled Manny Farooq to starting line up and had Kasim Malik impressing on his debute which made up a new back 4 and keeper. Jalil in goal, Fanta, Sam, Kasim and Naz.

I know it was a bit late but Nxt Gen had their own bonfire night. Asim, Qasar and Iddy got it started with help of the rest of the boys. The lads had a great time as this was something new to them, an "organised" fire. But credit to them has they all pitched in to get equipment, dig a hole and help with the wood all with limited lighting.

In partnership with Wakefield MDC's Sport and Active Lifestyles and YDSS (Youth Development Support Service), Next Generation are working on a bid that gives an opportunity to change Lightwaves into a world class youth and community centre.

Please come to have a look and share your views.
