Check out how the Nxt Gen juniors are getting on by simply clicking on the Football Team link on the main menu tool bar.

Here we have results, fixtures, tables and match reports.

As we're approaching the end of our season with just 6 games remaining it would be nice to see more parents at matches. We already have some parents involved in our club which we appreciate.

Just like to add the lads have done a terrific job this season and I would like them to keep on going to the end.

Young star passed away
Tuesday, 18 December 2007

star.jpg

Last Saturday, Ahmed Hassan, a young lad from Dewsbury, passed away.

Ahmed was stabbed in the back at Dewsbury train station. It is very sad that this young person who had so much to offer and was full of promise has been taken away. We feel deeply sorry for his family, friends and the community where he lived and went to school.

It is not exactly clear what happened in Ahmed's case, but it is reported that the attack was unprovoked. In general, it is so important for young people to know the dangers attached to carrying a knife. Having a knife doesn't protect you, but makes it more likely to be attacked.

On the following website you can find all kinds of advice on things like the dangers of carrying a knife, what to do when someone threatens you and how to deal with friends who carry knives.

Please click on this link: www.fearandfashion.org.uk to find out more.             knife_crime.jpg

My Space? Our Space!
Tuesday, 20 November 2007

msos_badger.jpg

Next Generation is taking part in the "My Space? Our Space!" program of BTCV. The program aims to create opportunities for young people to make a visible difference to local places and communities.

For this, Nxt Gen is working with young people on the Stanley Royd playing fields. As the Grammar School Foundation has licensed us to use the site, the idea is to create a great, accessible, attractive green space that will facilitate all kinds of activities. During half term we organised a big clean up with members of the community. We collected about 25 bin liners of rubbish, old bikes, tyres and all kinds. The day was finished with a traditional Nxt Gen barbecue.

BTCV has made a short film about this, which you can watch on:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9wZ06HXGK4

The national launch of the program will take place in Wakefield on the 21st of November at the Town Hall.

First game in 14 years in Stanley Royd
Tuesday, 16 October 2007
It was a rare sight but the football was back on the Stanley Royd playing fields. With Nxt Gen obtaining a license from the Grammar School Foundation to use the fields we have been able to put up football posts. And instead of using a hole in the fence we came in through the proper gate. So last Sunday Wakefield Nxt Gen A.F.C. were back in action, they had their first home game in over a season. Last season the juniors had to play all their games away so thanks to all the players that stuck it out.
